3 Star Hotel in Kathmandu and Trek House during the Trek

Upper Mustang – formerly known as the Kingdom of Lo is one of the remote & isolated regions of the Himalayas which was a strictly restricted area until 1991. By far, many trekkers have had the opportunity to visit & relish the beauty of this untouched region. This region lies at the north of Annapurna at the altitude of 4050 meters and thoroughly tied to the Tibetan culture & language.

Earlier this place hadn’t had many basic facilities but as of now, some tea houses are accessible where you get simple lodging and meals on this classic trek. The trekking trail to Upper Mustang takes you all through the rocky land with the snowcapped mountains with amazing barren landscapes and to this mysterious kingdom with amazing Buddhists architecture.

The major highlights of this trekking are relishing the beauty of Mount AnnapurnaMount DhaulagiriMount Nilgiri and several other peaks plus you will witness several ancient Buddhists monasteries, prayer mani walls surrounding stupa with the colorful prayer flags.

Our trek begins from a flight to Jomsom with the pleasant view of Mount Annapurna and Dhaulagiri during the flight. From Jomson, we will be heading to Kagbeni to the gate of Upper Mustang. We will be crossing through various terraced fields, apple orchards etc. At Lo Manthang (at the altitude of 4050 meters), we will be visiting a monastery named Lo Gekar Gumba - one of the ancient Gumba (Gompa) of Nepal. We will also encounter the longest Mani wall of Nepal on our trials. We also visit numerous Gumba/Gompa (monasteries) of this region.

Some of our trails will be a barren dry arid land without trees where you will be visiting some of thechortens (Buddhist shrine) & can find Buddhist monks reciting prayers. We will also encounter several communities on our trial such as Manangi’s & Tibetan communities & also get to experience their unique cultures. Our trekking trials will pass through several villages and we get a blend of unique culture and traditions in between.

Trekking to Upper Mustang can be done in every season but the perfect/preferable months are from March to November.

Ganesh Himal Hiking Team provides you this interesting trek for adventure loving people with experiencing the unique culture and the natural diversification of this mysterious land through the windy trail. If this itinerary does not fit your vacation, we can arrange the different itinerary according to your vacation schedule.
