Makalu base camp one of the classical treks at an elevation (5250m) Mt. Makalu which is one of the 5thhighest peaks in the world. It is situated in Makalu Barun national park, which covers an area of 2330sq ft. km extending around the solukhumbu and sankhuwasabha districts of Nepal. The region offers one of most outstanding and diverse trekking routes in the Himalayas. The trek can be marvelous plus challenging adventurous in some parts depending upon your level of physical fitness. It is one of the awe inspiring trekking destinations located in eastern part of Nepal.
The trek begins with flight from Kathmandu to small village called tumlingtar of mid-eastern Nepal for half and hrs. And then the trails proceed to Arun river valley and then to the num. After crossing Shipton La 4125m then we will be reaching Kalo Pokhari, Barun River gorge and catch the close by view of Makalu also the Chamlang Himal. The trail is the remote part of Nepal. This region is sanctified with unbelievable picturesque nature, vast diversity of Makalu due to lying at remote area as well isolation.
The treks leads you to the four high passes via Khongma la (3603m), kerke-La (4,127m),shipton La (4170m) and tutu la (4080m) into the upper barun khola( river) which you will experience the breathtaking views as well as Mount makaul(8463m) including Everest (8850m), Lhotse(8516m) and also get to explore the beauty National Park Host 3000 species of birds and 75 types of animals, with the endangered Snow leopard, Red panda, Musk deer, Wild boar, wild yak and Himalayan thar etc. most of the inhabitants if the trails are mostly Sherpa, rai, limbu and brahman living at the lower elevations and Tibetan societies living at the higher elevations. Those people living in isolated villages and they rely on subsistence farming for their livelihoods.in so, this will be the best chance to observe the lifestyles, traditional, culture and their languages. At the upper portion of the trail one can see granite cliffs with glaciers and enchanting waterfalls keep them over flowing craggy rocks rising from green forest.
