Overview

If you ever come to Nepal. Kathmandu and Pokhara fall under the places you must visit. Kathmandu Being the capital city of Nepal is home to various cultural and religious heritage of Nepal. Pashupatinath temple is the famous Hindu temple and Boudhanath and Swyambhunath are religious spots for Buddhists. Kathmandu Durbar square is enlisted in the world heritage site by UNESCO. In this trip, you will visit these famous places in Kathmandu valley and drive to Nagarkot. From Nagarkot, the sunrise and sunset views are splendid. From Nagarkot you move on towards Namobuddha and places in the way are Dhulikhel and panauti.

After Namobuddha, you move on towards Pokhara. Pokhara is 7-8 hours' drive from Kathmandu. Pokhara is a beautiful place to visit. Phewa lake and many of the caves in Pokhara are a must watch centres. From Sarangkot you can see the paranomaic view of mountains like Dhawalagiri, Annapurna south, Annapurna II, Patal himchuli and Machhapuchhre and lots of more. This trip is an easy one in terms of altitude and path difficulty.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival day in Kathmandu 1350m/4428ft

After your Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will welcome you and then you will be taken to your hotel. Our tour operator will explain briefly about the program. Depending on your arrival time in Kathmandu, you may explore "Thamel".

In the evening we host a welcome dinner at one of the typical Nepalese restaurant with local music and ethnic dance. O/N Kathmandu.

 

Day 2
Explore Kathmandu valley and Drive to Nagarkot 1350m/4428ft

Places visited: Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Krishna temple of Patan & Nagarkot> Driving: 3 to 4 hours

After breakfast, the day starts with an extensive pilgrimage tour, the first visit is made at Pashupatinath Temple - the most scared Hindu temples in Nepal worshipped as a Lord Shiva and then we explore Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, which is one of three Durbar (Royal palaces) squares in the Kathmandu Valley and We will visit to Bouddhanath.

The next visit, we lead you to Patan - the second largest town in the Kathmandu Valley, which means "City of Beauty" featuring with its long Buddhist history. Lalitpur is fragmented from other cities due to its substantive architectural ancient masterpieces. After exploring the Lalitpur we drive to Nagarkot. Nagarkot is located at 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu, is one of the most scenic spots in Bhaktapur district. It also gives an excellent view of the Indrawati river to the east. Nagarkot also offers a panoramic view of the Valley and known as a place of beauty with different culture and sculpture. O/N Nagarkot.

Day 3
Explore Namobudhha, Dhulikhel and Bhaktapur

Places visited: Namobuddha, Dhulikhel, and Bhaktapur

This morning viewer can have the spectacular sunrise view of the Himalayan of eastern Nepal. Nagarkot has become famous as one of the best spots to view Mount Everest as well as other snow-topped peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal.

After breakfast we depart from Nagarkot and drive to Namobuddha.

Namo Buddha is a very sacred place for the Buddhists. There are couple of monasteries and one ancient stupa erected, in which a person can make offerings, pray and light butter lamps. This sight of Namo Buddha gives beautiful views of the local villages and lush scenery to the visitors. After sightseeing tour around Namobuddha drive back to Dhulikhel. Dhulikhel is a Tourist paradise, the spectacular snow fed mountains seen from Dhulikhel must be one of the finest panoramic views in the world, when a blue haze covers the lower portion of the mountains, they seem like they are floating in the air with the snowy mountains on the backdrop. Dhulikhel is a stage of vast beauty and it's like a paradise for nature lovers. Green inviting hills of Dhulikhel is still virgin. After having the panoramic view from Dhulikhel we move towards to explore Bhaktapur.

Bhaktapur is a popular day-trip destination for the tourists. Bhaktapur main square, Durbar square, the palace with 55- windows constructed by King jitamitra Malla are the main attraction of the area. The square is one of the most charming architectural showpieces of the Valley as it highlights the ancient arts of Nepal. The main attraction of Bhaktapur are three squares like Durbar square, Taumadhi square, and Dattatreya square and a visitor can also get the Devine miraculous vision of the largest Shiva lingum, Golden Spout and Gate, Magnificent peacock windows and so on. Popular places of Bhaktapur are Changu Narayan, Nagarkot, Surya Vinayak, Kamal Vinayak, Siddhi pokhari, chonga Ganesh etc.

After exploring the city of Bhaktapur we drive to Kathmandu. O/N Kathmandu.

Day 4
Drive from kathmandu to Pokhara 827m/2713ft Driving: 6 to 7 hours

Today after breakfast, We drive a car or tourist bus to Pokhara, on the way we will scenic mountain terrain, its fame rests on the natural beauty of its lakeside location and its proximity to the mountains.

Pokhara is the starting point for some of the most famous treks in Nepal, and there are also plenty of short walks and day trips, that can be made around the valley. The main attraction of Pokhara are Fewa Lake, view from sarangkot, Mahendra gufa, etc. O/N Pokhara.

Day 5
Explore Pokhara 827m/2713ft

Places visited: Sarangkot, Mahendra Gufa, Seti River Gorge & Phewa Lake

After breakfast, a full day sightseeing of Pokhara, the most popular destination in Nepal after Kathmandu, spend enjoyable the morning trip along the bank of Phewa Lake, you can admire the beautiful view of the Fish Tail's Peak reflected in the surface of the water.

You can also see the wonderful Annapurna panorama forms a nice backdrop to Pokhara from the lake. Aside from Phewa Lake, we keep visiting the Seti River gorge - one of the best places to see. You will have an opportunity to take a glimpse of the limestone cave of Mahendra Gufa and stunning view from Sarangkot, etc. O/N Pokhara.

Day 6
Drive form Pokhara to Kathmandu 1 350m/4428ft Driv: 6 to 7 hours

After breakfast, start the trip of the day with driving back to Kathmandu (5 hours). A farewell dinner followed by Nepali cultural program. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Departure day from Kathmandu 1350m/4428ft

Free morning, after breakfast, if you having enough time, you may explore the main downtown of Kathmandu Thamel, a shopping paradise. Ontime transfer to the airport and our trip ends here.

FAQ's and Notes

When to book this Trip ?

The flawless seasons for touring/trekking is in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November). One can travel in winter if you are well adapted to cold. We strongly recommend you not to trek on monsoon in June, July, and August because of heavy rains & extremely blazing heat in the afternoon.

How kind of food is served during the trek ?

We serve food rich in proteins, carbohydrates and highly nutritious hygienic nourishing food - vital while trekking.

During the trek - all the meals i.e. breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided inclusive in our package. The trek leader will be taking you to the clean hotels/restaurants for lunch on the way to your destination. In cities, either breakfast or dinner is included.

Vegan foods are also availabale.

How safe is stream water ?

Stream water is completely safe but we suggest you to carry water purification pills (chlorine tablets) or water filters to purify the water. If you prefer to drink packaged bottled mineral water, you will easily get in shops or tea houses on your own expense.

How about my luggage ?

Our porters will carry your major luggage while you carry a backpack with items very handy while trekking such as water bottle, towel, tissue or toilet paper, camera or any other stuff which you feel is necessary.

Gears and clothes not necessary can be left in the hotel safe deposit box properly locked without any extra charge. Domestic airlines of Nepal does not allow more than 15 kilograms including your hand baggage. If your baggage exceeds more than 15 kg, an extra charge can cover that up.

The porter will be carrying up to 12 kg luggage of each trekker.

What is the group Size or crew members ?

We Ganesh Himal Hiking team arrange most of the treks with a minimum of 2 clients to a maximum of 8 in a group. The larger group we will be divided accordingly.

What about guides ?

We provide honest, well experienced first aid certified, altitude sickness trained trekking guides who will be handling all your issues on the trip. All our staffs are very cordial and sincere. While trekking in a bigger group i.e. more than 6 people - an additional guide will be accompanied and the group also can be split according to the number of people in the group.

Is there any personal expenses on the Trek ?

Well, not that much but depends upon how you manage your expenses. Our package includes the cost of accommodation and meals during your trek as mentioned in the itinerary. Besides that, you are liable to pay for additional meals, table drinks, snacks, hot showers (accessible in some places), alcoholic drinks, meals (around US $ 5-7), extra accommodation in Kathmandu, tips for driver, guide and porters, etc.

Tips to the guides, porter or any other members is not mandatory but feel free to tip them if you are satisfied with their service.

How about trekking gears or other equipment ?

Trekking gears are readily available in the stores of major cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara at a very reasonable price. Down jacket & sleeping bags can also be hired with a minimal charge per day. Thus, you don’t have to buy it from your hometown.

But if already have it and have no issues bringing it, please feel free to bring it.

What would a usual day on a trek be like ?

Each and every day gives pleasant suprises and rewarding experience. Each day differs according to the itinerary or schedule, or the place you are trekking.

Normally, you are required to trek for 4-6 hours each day. We start our trek after breakfast and stop for the lunch. We trek for 3-4 hours after lunch to reach our destination. If we reach our destination in afternoon, you can spend rest of the hours relaxing, take shower or just wander around.

How about Airport Pickup and Drop Off ?

After booking, a representative of Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will pick you up from the airport on your scheduled landing time. You can spot GHHT member outside the exit terminal. If you have booked the hotel by yourself, please let us know in advance, so that we can drop you at your respective hotel.

We also pick and drop you from domestic airport. On your departure day, we will also see you off.

Can I customize the Itinerary ?

Our itinerary has been carefully designed by our operation manager which is very pragmatic & includes the high altitude acclimatizing. These days includes your arrival day, departure and sightseeing Kathmandu. It also has an extra day which allows flexibility to adjust the delay or cancellation of flight due to sudden changes in the Himalayan weather.

If you would like to extend more days or lessen some, we surely can do that as per your wish.

How do you deal with emergency situations ?

Our tour guide and trek leader will make sure that each and every one of you is well taken care of in emergency situations. If by chance anyone gets sick during the trek, we will take you to the nearest hospital as soon as possible. For serious conditions – we will use the rescue helicopter expenses being carried out by the insurance company. We suggest you get insured for up to 6000 meters.

Please go thoroughly what’s covered and not in the insurance policy.

Booking and Payment:

After confirming or booking the trip – all we need is the copy of the passport, insurance policy, and the international flight details (ticket). Then, a 20% advance deposit is required for any trip, trek or expedition which is not refundable - used for reservations of hotels and lodges according to the itinerary. The remaining balance is due when you arrive at Kathmandu and can be paid by any means convenient to you. We prefer payment via cash (to avoid any extra service charge) but bank transfer, credit cards, western union, and pay pal are also the accepted form of payments.

What if flight is delayed from ?

Only domestic mountain flight is only available from Kathmandu to Lukla and sometimes the flight might be delayed or canceled due to unforeseen adverse Himalaya weather condition.

This is the reason we have kept an extra day in the itinerary to cover up such situations. In case the flight is canceled for 2 or more days, we will charter a helicopter to make sure that you reach on the scheduled flight to your destination. The expense for this service will be carried out by the insurance company. The helicopter charter cost is in between the US $ 500 to $ 3500 depending upon the number of people in the flight.

Ganesh Himal Hiking team arranges the best comfy and pleasant accommodation and provides you the well-nourished hygienic foods. Throughout your stay in Kathmandu, you will be staying at the best standard hotel which will be rating at 3-star hotel. Although if you want to stay at 4- 5-star hotel in the well sumptuous hotel and are able to pay for this expenses then you have this kind of choices but for the luxurious hotel, the payment should be deposited by the clients itself. As the Ganesh Himal Hiking team company can only afford the hotel which is the rate at 2-3 star hotels. However, once you are set for your trip there will be such facilities as the place where we are traveling and visiting. We have a three-star hotel in Pokhara and 2-3 star hotel even in Nagarkot. While we are in the National park, we stay in well and deluxe resort.

Meals:

We the company totally focuses on client’s meals by making sure that each and every client get the same portion which is clean hygienic and nourished which is most necessary while we are in trip. While we are on trip all the meals i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided but in the Kathmandu city, Pokhara even in Lumbini sometimes breakfast and sometimes dinner are included where you can go through the each detail itinerary. During our trip breakfast and dinner will be served in the Hotel where we stay for a night and for the lunch our expert leader/guide will be taking you the best clean hotels and restaurants.
