Overview

Annapurna Base Camp Trek or simply ABC Trek is one of the well-known trekking trails recognized by trekkers not only in Nepal but also around the globe. It is also recognized as Annapurna Sanctuary & this trek begins from either Nayapul, Dhampus or Phedi from Pokhara.

ABC is located in the north-central part of Nepal encompassing chains of peaks including the 10th uppermost peak – Mount Annapurna. Annapurna - at an altitude of 8091 m along with 16 other peaks above 7000 m is also witnessed in this trek. This peak was first summited by a French voyage group led by Maurice Herzog in June 1950. The entire Annapurna is preserved by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) within the 7639 square kilometers range. It is the first and biggest conservation area in Nepal.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek commences from the gorgeous lake city of Pokhara. Our expedition initiates as we arrive Pokhara from Kathmandu and a short drive to Nayapul. Upon reaching the starting point of the trek, we go for a hike to a community by the Khudi River and Birethanti which lies at an elevation of 1000 meters above sea level. You will be hiking through the forests across numerous gorges, climb up to the small community of Hiley where we will halt for a night. The trail encompasses some traditional communities populated by many indigenous Nepal tribe plus Gurung, Magar, and Thakali.

There are various mountains with the dissimilar height of altitude of peaks such as Annapurna SouthMachapuchare (Fishtail)  (6993 m), Mount Annapurna II (7939 m), Mount Annapurna III(7555 m), Mount Annapurna IV (7525 m), Mount Lamjung Himal (6986 m), Mount Hiuchuli (6441 m) plus hundreds of peaks in the Annapurna region.

ABC trek is an easy classic trek to the Annapurna region with a striking picturesque view of the snowcapped mountains. At the Annapurna Base Camp - early in the morning just before the sunrise, warming on the top of the Annapurna ranges progressively illuminating turning point with white top into an orange color - gives you an amazing picturesque sight of the Annapurna Mountain. On the trails - you can enjoy the attractive flora and fauna of more than 450 species of birds, animals like the marten, languor, deer and the exclusive snow leopard, Himalayan Thar and tiger residing above 3000 meters are found as well as cascading waterfall throughout the trail.

Period of June to August is not suitable for ABC Trek as it is quite risky as the snow will be slippery due to the rainy season. So, Annapurna Base Camp Treks is only achievable during the month of September and November and also during the month of March to May. Our Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will provide you ample of facilities during the ABC trek by qualified trained guides and leaders making sure to keep your safety as the main priority. For furthermore inquiry of trekking in ABC, you can contact or email us.
